When the world's most famous scientist dies, does he go to heaven or hell? Neither, of course; he goes to Malibu! In this ingenious new comedy by Crispin Whittell, the year after his two hundredth birthday finds Charles Darwin spending his afterlife lounging around a Malibu beach house, observing pelicans and sipping banana milkshakes, befriended by a California girl young enough to be his great-granddaughter's great-granddaughter. Things shake up when two more famous dead people show up: biologist Thomas Huxley and Bishop Samuel Wilberforce, still stuck in their classic 150-year-old debate over religion and evolution. The battle of ideas turns into a battle of wits, so funny and fierce it starts an earthquake. In the course of this rollicking matchup, they answer a lot of life's toughest questions: How did they fit the dinosaurs onto Noah's Ark? Are there shotguns in the afterlife? And the most important question of all: why none of them managed to get into heaven!
